Good news! Two of my abstract studies on paper have been selected for the upcoming Positive Emotions exhibition at the Kunsthuis Gallery in Crayke, North Yorkshire. The Private View will be on Friday 5 April 5.30-7.30pm and the exhibition will run 5 April - 27 October with opening times Friday-Sunday 11am-5pm (closed Mon-Thurs). The gallery address is Mill Green Farm, Crayke, YO61 4TT, North Yorkshire and you can see a useful map here. Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend the PV myself but if you would like to please register beforehand by emailing gallery owner Cecile Creemers (press here).
I produced these studies on an abstract painting course some time ago. The exercise was to use the paint thickly and focus on the properties of the paint as a physical medium. I used impasto medium to increase the flow and body of the paint and had a lot of fun mixing colour and slapping paint on with a palette knife.
The exhibition will feature fifty international artists and the exhibition catalogue can be seen online here. I am very proud that my work has been featured on the catalogue cover.
UPDATE: My two pieces will be shown at Kunsthuis for an EXTENDED period in combination with the upcoming Shades of Clay ceramics exhibition, 1 November 2019 - 26 January 2020.
